Songs

In addition to his Step Songs, Chris has recorded many others. The songs that appear here were recorded in 2024 and 2025 at Dark Horse Recording Studios in Nashville.

Chris was assisted by some of the most talented studio musicians in Nashville, along with a Grammy Award-winning producer.  You can learn more about Dark Horse's storied history by clicking HERE.

The songs that appear here were written over many years and cover a wide variety of subjects.  There are songs inspired by people in Chris's life.  "Farther Down The Road" and "The Horizon" are songs Chris wrote before and after the passing of his mother in 2019.  "Men Don't Cry" was inspired by his son, Dennis.  "My Kentucky Home" is an homage to his grandparents' house on Lake Cumberland in rural Kentucky, where he spent much time in his youth.

Many of the songs, including "Shame on Me", "Most Days", "Sad Eyes" and "How The Story Ends" embody the type of vulnerability Chris tries to incorporate into his music.

As with most songwriters, romantic love is a common subject.  The are several songs about love lost ("Ain't Nothing", "Five Points Road", "Still" and "Flowers of a Different Kind") and not lost ("Here We Are", "In a Moment").  Some others represent the notion of a collective love among all people ("Together We Travel", "Isn't it Sweet", "The Darkness We Have Known").

Some of these songs were included on the album The Horizon, which is available on Apple Music and Spotify – just click on the Apple or Spotify icon below.  If you are interested in obtaining a CD or vinyl copy of the record, simply drop Chris a line via the "Contact Chris" page, and he'll get one in your hands.

Chris is planning an album of instrumentals.  These songs, which he is in the process of "dusting off", represent some of his oldest work as a songwriter.  When he initially became interested in composition, his earliest efforts were instrumentals.  Chris hopes to release the instrumental album in 2026.
